Global Government Procurement Project

Taiwan became the 41st signatory to the WTO’s plurilateral Agreement on Government Procurement (GPA) in July 2009. To help Taiwanese enterprises obtain procurement opportunities benefiting from GPA accession, TAITRA has been administering the Global Government Procurement Project that was first organized by the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) in 2009. Through the years, TAITRA has been running a website providing the latest global public tender notices and relevant business information that is collected from over 120 Taiwanese trade and economic offices. Additionally, TAITRA holds large-scale “Sourcing Taiwan for Government Procurement” meetings annually; organizes seminars on specific countries’ public procurement guidelines and experiences with international bids, and provides the services of product sourcing and supplier matchmaking that fulfill all foreign tender winners’ procurement plans.

Marketing alliances in ICT, engineering, security and surveillance, green energy, and water treatment have been established in the GPA Project since 2016. Members of these alliances are system integration solution providers with government procurement project experiences in each area. Alliance members share market information and experience with each other, as well as work together to provide state-of-the-art total solutions. Moreover, TAITRA arranges trade missions for alliance members to promote their products and solutions overseas.

It is hoped that under this project, Taiwan’s dynamic enterprises will deepen the relationships with tender winners, win subcontracting opportunities and strengthen their ability to bid directly on government contracts abroad.

The Taiwan Halal Center

In order to follow the religious regulations regarding dietary and lifestyle, Muslims consume and purchase halal-certified products. It is, therefore, essential to enhance the convenience of purchasing halal products in Taiwan. By doing so, a warm and friendly living environment will be created for Muslims in Taiwan, which will further realize the deeper meaning of the "people-centered" policy promoted by our government. In April, 2017, the Bureau of Foreign Trade entrusted the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) to set up the Taiwan Halal Center. This will serve to assist professionally in promoting the Taiwan halal industry, both locally and globally.  The core value of the Taiwan Halal Center is being "people-centered". We aim to create a Muslim-friendly environment, in which Muslims can purchase quality products made in Taiwan without worry, and have more convenient lives here. Our missions are to build up the strength of the local halal industry, to build trust with Muslims abroad, to expand the Muslim market, and to establish a halal eco-system in Taiwan.

Expanding Foreign Trade and Economic Relations

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) entrusted TAITRA to organize overseas exhibitions. These exclusive events helped Taiwanese enterprises to expand their market and further boost bilateral diplomatic and trade relations between Taiwanese enterprises and the world.
